Sirius Sunday: Never Leave Home Without Earmuffs
Written by Rose - January 24, 2010 3 CommentsThe good news is, it hasn’t snowed once this week here in Illinois.
The bad news is, it hasn’t snowed once this week in Illinois because it’s too cold to snow.
Give me a Woot if you’re shivering in your socks. Misery loves company, and the more of us that huddle under the porch, the warmer it will be. Lament the cold for a while, and then look up at the title of this article. Your eyes widen, your mouth drops open, and you exclaim to yourself,
“By golly, Self!” you say, “it’s Sunday!”
And your Self rolls its eyes in exasperation because it has known this fact all along and has been trying to get you to appreciate it before.
But it’s never too late! Cozy up in front of the fire with a big mug of hot chocolate and your laptop and settle in for a good read. The articles we put up this week will give you top-notch ideas and insights that will make the rest of your week a whole lot warmer.
The Mallows In Your Mug
Deb kicked off the week with encouragement and an important reminder about what it takes to get things done. She introduced us to an amazing little video called Pigeon Impossible—check it out here. There’s a lot we can learn from animators about patience, dedication, and creativity—a lot of which are essential to running a prosperous business. We’ve come to expect wisdom from Deb (did you know she does animation too?), and she certainly didn’t let us down this week.
Our Special Edition article this week featured Andy Hayes of Travel Online Partners. In a controversially-titled article, “Why Great Graphics aren’t always enough,” Andy made a great point about the importance of having the content on a site match its display. Good thing the Team here at Sirius is good at both, neh?
Another great lesson from Allison on Thursday has me confident that I’m ready to start coding on my own. I kind of hate how she does that. Coding’s hard! She shouldn’t make it seem so easy! Maybe I’ll wait for next week’s article before starting CodeRose Inc.
On the other hand, if you want Allison to do a little coding magic, just tell her. She’s all nice and willing to help and whatnot. I’ll just watch this time, promise.
Now, Wendi’s message . . . phew. Here’s a secret about me. I like cheap things. I LOVE free things. I’m like Pavlov’s dog; I see the word Free and I can’t stop myself from clicking to see what I can get. Go on, admit it; you’re probably the same (though perhaps better trained).
Wendi has found our weakness! But she is kind. Her article tells us how our love of free things can be a boon to our businesses. Just think—if we love free things so much, how much more do our customers and client? Spread the love and earn a reputation as a worthwhile investment. You might spend a little getting your ebook to reflect you well, but for the publicity and positive opinions giving gifts can earn you, isn’t it worth it?
You tell me.
And don’t forget–February is ebook month here at Sirius, and we’re chomping at the bit to get as much of your work “Out There” as you’re willing to share. Got ideas for an ebook? Need a quote on a project you’re considering? All you have to do is ask. We’re always willing to set down our mugs of cocoa to respond. Always.

Well, it’s a balmy 40 degrees here, a special gift after freezing cold weather and yes no snow. It’s also raining, so even though temps will drop to 20 again tomorrow, I’m staying in for the rest of the day to catch up on reading. Great week here at Sirius!

Sounds like you’re having a heat wave over there. Our rain finally stopped. Looks like everyone is staying in today. Interwebs seem awfully quiet.
